Invitation to SFU's International Business Case Competition

I have attached our University Invitation package for the 2nd Annual
International Business Case Competition.

Last year we had many teams from SFU and UBC compete. This year as
planned we have expanded to a full external competition with many
schools competing. We currently have 8 schools signed up: SFU, UBC,
Concordia and 5 other schools from BC.

We are following the model that CaseIT, also hosted at SFU took to
grow to 1 of the top 2 MIS competitions in the world (equivalent to
APEX). I believe that it is a great opportunity to get in while the
competition is growing as U of W will have a spot moving forward.

I hope that this fits your school's schedule and Loksum should be able
to help you with any questions.

If you were wondering last year I Co-Founded and Chaired the
competition and currently sit on the board overseeing the competition.

Regards,
Brock

Students Offering Support

Students Offering Support (SOS) has an exciting, challenging new
opportunity for students at the University of Winnipeg, the chance to
help students raise their marks while raising money to raise roofs in
Latin America. Building a chapter of SOS on campus is a fantastic chance
for students to gain entrepreneurial experience and develop skills
learned in the classroom.

Do you know of anyone interested in a new volunteer leadership
opportunity? We are looking for student leaders to build a campus
chapter of SOS at the University of Winnipeg. If there is any way you
would be able to spread the word to your students about this great
opportunity or if you could put me in touch with others who would be
interested in taking a leadership role with SOS that would be greatly
appreciated. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact
me at kcampbell@studentsofferingsupport.ca.

Students Offering Support (SOS, www.studentsofferingsupport.ca) is an
international charitable organization that currently has over 1000
volunteer student leaders who are helping their peers pass exams which
raises money for development projects in Latin America; built by SOS
volunteers on annual 2-week outreach trips and work to 'raise marks,
money, and roofs':

'Raising Marks': SOS volunteers work to coordinate and run SOS's
Exam-AID initiative helping first year students get through exams. These
are 3-hour Exam-prep group review sessions that lead students through
the material covered on their upcoming exam. Through teaching 5-200
students at one time, Students Offering Support has helped over 25,000
students get through exams since '04!

'Raising Money': By charging a $10-$20 donation to attend an SOS
Exam-AID, an SOS chapter has been able to raise $1000 - $100,000 in one
year! This past fall, across the 30 SOS chapters across North America,
SOS has raised $160,000+ by helping their peers.

'Raising Roofs': Each year, an SOS chapter works with one of our rural
community partners across Latin America to fund, coordinate, and
implement a sustainable development project, built by volunteers on a
two-week outreach trip at the end of each year having the opportunity
to see firsthand the impact your time can have. This year, SOS will be
building 30+ development projects built by over 400 volunteers this
May-August.

Interested?: We are working to get SOS started on campus, and we are
looking for one to two students who are up to the challenge of running
the organization. If interested, email a cover letter and resume to
humanresources@studentsofferingsupport.ca. For more information, check
out our website, (www.studentsofferingsupport.ca) or facebook group,
(www.facebook.com/StudentsOfferingSupport).

Cheers,

Kate

University of Winnipeg Open House Position

The University of Winnipeg's Open House is coming up this February 22nd and the Student Recruitment department needs volunteers for this event as we never have enough staff to handle the number of students on campus. If you know of someone who would like to volunteer at Open House, please let Sylvia Wittmaier know asap at s.wittmaier@uwinnipeg.ca.

I need to have their full name, email, cell phone, and address. They must be legally able to work in Canada as they are paid through our payroll department. Last year we paid $70.00 to work the whole day, $45.00 to work until 2:00 only and $25.00 if they worked in the evening only.

They must be fluent in English, have good communications skills, be friendly and hardworking, follow directions easily, know the campus well and be able to assist with takedown (if they work the evening shift). We are planning to have an Open House meeting in early February so everyone knows what they are doing. I expect we will try and do this during lunch. This will be a mandatory meeting.

I will require more information from them at that time in order for them to get paid but we will deal with that later. If you know of anyone (that you would recommend) interested in helping at Open House I would really appreciate your recommendations!

I will need 10-12 people. Please remember that they will only be helping the day of the event with directions, questions and other such tasks. This is a way for them to see Student Ambassadors on the job. Student Recruitment will be posting to hire more Student Ambassadors in March so they can get a taste of what a day is like in the life of an Student Ambassador!!

Technical Service Representative

Technical Service Representative $14.98 per hour, Customer Service Rep $11-13 per hour.

Permanent Part time 2 weekend 8 hour shifts, 2 - 3 weekday shifts from 5pm to 11pm.

Perfect for University Students, or that extra income you want or need. Need to fill over 50 positions!

Apply directly to vincent.stycke@manpower.com or call 949-7800

Queen's Commerce and Engineering Environmental Conference

The Commerce and Engineering Environmental Conference at Queen's University would like to invite you to our 22nd annual conference. The conference is Canada's leading undergraduate sustainability initiative, focusing on the ever-growing challenges and opportunities of environmental sustainability. The conference takes place in Kingston Ontario during early March, and lasts for two days. In these two days we provide our delegates with a unique experience, which includes a number of speakers, workshops and panel discussions, a social, a case challenge, and an excellent opportunity to network with industry leaders. By the end of the conference we hope our delegates come away with the belief that they have a greater understanding of the opportunities they have to impact the world, and the innovation that is happening in industry.

One of the things that CEEC prides itself on is its diversity of delegates. This includes both having a large number of external delegates, coming from all over Canada, as well as having a mixture of faculties: Commerce, Engineering, and Arts and Science. We would like to continue this tradition of diversity by having representatives from your school attend our conference. If you are interested in attending you can visit us at our website www.ceec.ca and see the delegate package here.

Cheers,
Julie
